Recursos means Resourses.
Recursos de Santa Fe is an educational, non-profit organization specializing in symposiums and conferences in the arts, sciences, humanities and letters, and tours which focus on Southwest culture, architecture and history.
Since its inception, Recursos de Santa Fe has promoted responsibility toward
indigenous cultures through seminars, study tours and conferences. Simply
put, Recursos strives to promote an appreciation and understanding of the
natural and cultural resources of our world without consuming or destroying
them.
Given how rapidly cultural diversity on Earth is vanishing, we all face an
increasing challenge. Many cultures are in danger of being swallowed up by
industrialized consumption-oriented societies. As increasing numbers of
affluent, sophisticated tourists range further into remote areas, the
environments and indigenous groups they encounter are often severely
impacted.
When tribal people abandon their traditions, our world culture is
diminished. We lose their religious, their ancient stories, their knowledge
about medicinal plants, their art. We loose their unique perspective. We
lose precious alternatives that we might need and should cherish.
We at Recursos have networks in the Southwest to explore solutions. By
offering visitors a deeper understanding of the cultures and environments
they encounter, we hope to install in them a new respect and appreciation. More…
